English has penetrated business communication. Today, it is the most common language used to communicate scientific, technological, academic and international trade information. Many employees in German companies are expected to use English as a means of internal and external communication whenever there is a non-native German speaker involved. The dissertation examines the implications of ‘English as Global Business Language’ in two large German companies and how its infiltration into day to day workplace communications affects non-native English speaking employees.
